April 23rd: What part do 'the news' play in humoristic tv and radio shows?

Who are the trendy humorists and what part do 'the news' play in their humor? Also, how big are humoristic shows on tv, the radio, or the web? What impact do they have?...

Please bring the transcript of a sketch of the humorist or the comedian of your choice, an article about humorists in the media,... or bring your computer if you wish to share a specific show with everyone. (There should be public wifi at Monte Cristo if you wish to bring your computer.)

'My greatest inspiration? Insomnia.'

  1. UK : do you know these people?
In 1979, the first American-style stand-up comedy club, the Comedy Store, was opened in London by Peter Rosengard, where many alternative comedy stars of the 1980s, such as Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, Alexei Sayle, Craig Ferguson, Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson began their careers.

    US : and these people?
From the 1970s to the 90s, more nonsensical styles of comedy began to emerge, led by the madcap stylings of Robin Williams, the odd observations of Jerry Seinfeld and the ironic musings of Steven Wright. These comedians would serve to influence the next generation of comedians, including Bill Burr, David Cross, Louis C.K., Hannibal Buress, Mitch Hedberg, Dave Foley, and Demetri Martin.

And in FR, a VERY short list of stand-up comedians:
    florence foresti
    Muriel Robin
    Pierre Palmade
    djamel debouze
    Dany boon
    gad elmaleh
    anne roumanoff
    coluche
    thierry le luron
    desproges
